10 Sober Valentine's Day Date Ideas (You Can Do At Home)

It's interesting to think about how much alcohol plays a role in every holiday in our society...and Valentine's day is no exception. Whether you're drinking wine with your significant other or getting wasted with your friends, Valentine's day and alcohol have always seemed to go hand in hand. With Valentine's Day (and Galentine's Day) right around the corner, I wanted to share a few ideas for activities that are COVID safe and alcohol-free! Having alternative activities planned on days you would have normally spent drinking can be very beneficial in helping you stay sober. All of these activities can be done with a significant other, a group of friends, or even by yourself! I hope you enjoy these 10 sober Valentine's Day Date Ideas.

1. A cute picnic (inside if needed).

It's interesting to think about how much alcohol plays a role in every holiday in our society...and Valentine's day is no exception. With this holiday right around the corner, I wanted to share a few ideas for activities that are COVID safe and alcohol-free! Do these with your significant other, a group of friends, or even by yourself.

I have been seeing these pop-up picnics all over Instagram. There are so many companies that would happily set this up for you, or you could easily do it yourself! Grab a couple blankets and floor pillows, some fun snacks, and your favorite NA beverages!

2. Make dinner together.

This will be my second sober Valentine's Day. Last year, my boyfriend and I went all out and made fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and asparagus. We even split a bottle of non-alcoholic wine with our meal! And if you aren't sure what or how to cook, taking an online cooking class would be so much fun. Just grab all the ingredients you need and following along with the video. Yum!

3. Valentine's Day trivia!

This would be very amusing to play with a group of friends. Here's the idea: Everyone in the group writes down a few questions about the other participants' past love lives. Put the questions in a hat and pull them out one by one. The person to answer the most questions correctly wins! Feel free to make this as fun and ~raunchy~ as you'd like. (You could even play this game through Zoom!)

4. Movie night with V-Day popcorn.

My favorite snack of all time is popcorn. To make it Valentine's Day themed, try adding some candy hearts or pink and red M&Ms to the bowl! Then, watch whatever movie your heart desires (double points if it's Valentine's Day on Netflix).

5. Get takeout from a nice restaurant.

You can do this with a significant other, a group of friends, or even on your own! We all deserve to treat ourselves!

5. Make a Valentine's Day Dessert.

Enough said.

6. Paint a picture or do a craft.

I used to love arts and crafts as a kid. Painting a photo and making art can be very relaxing and bring out your inner child. I also love this idea because it's a good distraction from your phone and electronics. Turn on a Bob Ross video and get creative!

7. Watch the sunset on the beach.

This has to be one of my favorite activities. Grab some dinner, your favorite non-alcoholic drinks, and admire the sun going down in the sky.

8. WAFFLE BAR.

Waffles with berries, chocolate chips, candy hearts, whip cream, and ANYTHING YOUR HEART DESIRES! Wake up the right way with this delicious breakfast. Waffles can, of course, be substituted with pancakes, french toast, or any breakfast item of your choosing. Just remember to make it sweet ;)

9. Mocktail making party.

Yes you heard me right. Grab your favorite mocktail ingredients and starting mixing! I'll leave some fun Valentine's Day mocktail recipes here:

10. Spa Day.

This is a classic one. Paint your nails, put on face masks, and pamper the f*ck out of yourself. You deserve this kind of self love today and EVERYDAY.
