Change Your Mindset With These 50 Positive Affirmations

It seems like positive affirmations are being talked about EVERYWHERE nowadays. When I first heard about affirmations, I was skeptical. I thought, "So I'm just supposed to tell myself things that I don't believe and then expect my life to get better?"

Well, come to find out, it's much more than that. You see, we start forming the beliefs about who we are from the moment we can understand our environment. Everything we hear, read, and consume throughout our lives forms our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves. It's no secret that there is a lot of negativity in this world, so it's easy to form really negative, self-defeating beliefs.

We create these beliefs about ourselves based on what we hear from the people we are surrounded by whether that's our teachers, peers, parents, friends and society. If the only message you receive growing up from these people is that you aren't good enough, you're going to believe it. How could you not when that's the only belief you've ever known?

This is where positive affirmations come in. The more we say or think positive things about ourselves, the more we start to actually believe them. You may not believe the things you are saying at first, but with repetition, you will manifest these beliefs and desires into your life. Think about it...you probably didn't believe it at first when someone told you that you weren't smart enough in elementary school. But, the more you heard this throughout your life, the more it became engrained into your brain and the more you believed it.

That is why positive affirmations work. It takes this negative self-deprecating mentality and flips it on its head. I started writing positive affirmations in my journal a few months ago and I have noticed a big change in my mindset and attitude towards myself and my future.

Here are 50 affirmations that you can use to help improve any part of your life. The important thing here is repetition. Pick a few that resonate with you and write them in a journal or say them out loud every morning. I also like to write them on sticky notes and put them around my room so I can be surrounded by positive mantras.
